About Us
Defining our purpose through the support of others
Create, organize, strengthen, support, and bring Block/Neighborhood Associations together on common issues.
Publishing news bulletins and hosting public forums and other community activities aimed at gathering feedback, identifying “best practices” that promote civic improvement, and ultimately mobilizing members to decide upon and take appropriate actions to uphold residential interests.
We are assisting members in learning about laws affecting the residential quality of life and identifying and utilizing available Jersey City municipal services and other public resources and information.
Keeping members informed on a timely basis about new and pending commercial development activities, including building and demolition permits, variance requests, and applications for alcohol licenses,
Engaging property owners, developers, and city officials in a dialogue about the need for affordable housing that is equitably dispersed throughout Jersey City.
Working with parents and educators to engage students in programs and projects that increase their knowledge and help them with the appreciation of civic and community issues.

A letter from
Our Founder
Greater Neighborhood Alliance Inc., also known as (G.N.A. and formally none as Greenville Neighborhood Alliance) a 501c3 Non-profit Organization, which is one of the leading neighborhood alliance organizations in Jersey City, New Jersey. With 25 block/neighborhood associations throughout Ward A and Ward F and now extending across Jersey City, NJ. We host monthly community meetings every second Monday of each month and quarterly block association workshops to assist residents in registering new block associations within Jersey City. We hosted over a dozen Block/Neighborhood Workshops and recorded over twenty new block associations in Jersey City from 2017 to the present. We sponsor Neighborhood Cleanups in the Greenville and Bergen-Lafayette section of J.C., College Career Days and College Tours for our youth, bookbag and school supplies giveaways, Easter egg hunts along with networking and recreational events. We also successfully created the GNA Collaborated Community Fund that help provide small grants to local organizations for youth and community activities.
GNA is proud to have hosted three successful Historically Black Colleges and Universities (H.B.C.U.) college tours from 2017 through 2019. Over 120 children from Ward A and Ward F sections of Jersey City, NJ had the opportunity to visit five H.B.C.U.’s during full-day trips. G.N.A. has been fundraising since 2017 to raise money for the expenses necessary to accommodate our community, often at no charge to the parents or students. Greater Neighborhood Alliance started the virtual college session in 2021 due to the pandemic and hosted our second Virtual College Tour on Saturday, April 09, 2022, that was an enormous success. We will also begin a virtual introduction for high school students to write their college statements. This initiative will be over a 4–6-week session that will start in mid-March 2023. We will reconvene the physical college tours once we are able.
We hosted three successful Neighborhood Award Gala’s, where we had the opportunity to honor some great community leaders, residents, businesses, and volunteers in our neighborhoods. Greater Neighborhood Alliance will host its 5th Annual Neighborhood Awards Gala in November 2022, this year’s theme will be a Masquerade Ball, highlighting community businesses, organizations, and leaders in our community. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
Lastly, GNA have been working on green open space and environmental work since 2020. Partnering with NJ Future on the Free Sewage Street & River Campaign, bringing awareness to the combined sewer system in Jersey City and the stormwater flooding issues we were all witnessing. Working also with Sustainable JC on the tree canopy and learning about heat island and air quality in our area. We also adopted a-lot to create GNA Community Garden to grow a beautiful garden with flowers, fruits, and vegetables to give back to our neighbors.
